Free range is a common method of raising animals nowadays, especially chicken. Free range implies that animals are allowed to roam freely and that they are not being contained in any mater. This way, chickens can roam freely through the garden without being imprisoned in cages, thus they can haply live their lives, very similar to wild animals. Free range has been used for thousands of year, though, nowadays, it has a different meaning. Free range implies that animals are fed only natural and organic food and that they live in humane conditions and that they are not being imprisoned in any way. There are a lot of benefits to raising animals by using this method, such as lower costs, and that is why this method is very popular worldwide.

Supporting Chicken Free Range

If you are not a vegetarian or you know somebody who isn't, than you should advise him to buy only free range chicken. These chickens have lived a happy life and haven't suffered. That is why, everyone should support chicken free range. By eating only free ranged chicken, you determine farmers to raise the chickens by using this humane method, thus you are helping chickens and other farm animals have a nice and long life. This is a very good way to determine farmers to stop imprisoning animals and to offer them freedom.

Free range is becoming more and more popular as it is a very good alternative to imprisoning animals and raising them just for their meat, skin or fur. There are also many laws that oblige farmers to offer animals some minimum conditions for the free range method. This laws specify that chicken must have daytime access to open-air units and that they can not be contained in any mather.

Nowadays almost everybody knows what a petition is. That is why, many people use petitions in order to help different projects or organizations. Petitions are used worldwide and have a huge impact. That is why, in order to change a new law or even to pass a new law for example, people use petitions in order to gather enough votes. These written requests have changed the world and can be used to save a lot of animals and protect the environment.

Using petitions to help the environment

There are a lot of people out there who are looking for help from people in order to help them protect the environment. Still, only few know about their efforts and that is why most of them give up as their project isn’t receiving any support. In order to make your ideas known by others, and to gather people in order to help you complete your project, you should always use a petition. Petitions will convince people that you are determined to fight for the ecosystem. Also, by signing a petition, people can help the environment without having to put much effort in it. That is why you will easily obtain enough signatures in order to change a law or to pass a new one, thus stopping forests from being cut down or animals from being killed for their fur and skin.

Petitions are the simplest and easiest way to make you intentions known. Also, people tend to support projects who require them to sign a petition as, with the help of a written request, they find out more about organizations and projects that fight in order to keep the planet clean, reduce pollution or save the environment.

“People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals” is a very long name for an international organization that fights for animals rights. With 300 employees working for this non-profit organization and over 2 million supporters, the organization is believed to be the largest animal rights group in the world. Their slogan is well known worldwide: ”Animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, or use for entertainment.”

The Profile of PETA

The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals organization was first founded in March 1980. It's founders, Ingrid Newkirk and Alex Pacheco, came up with the idea of creation an organization that would fight for animal rights. The believe that animals should not be used as test subjects to various experiments and that they should not be killed in order to be eaten. The organization became well known in 1981 due to the Silver Spring monkeys case. The Institute of Behavioral Research from Silver Spring was using 17 macaque monkeys as test subjects to various experiments. Alex Pacheco visited the laboratory without anyone knowing, and took pictures of the captive monkeys and the conditions that they were living in. The evidence was then given to the police, who raided the lab and arrested the scientists. The case lasted for almost ten years making PETA a well known organization not only in the US, but all over the world. Many people decided to support this organization thus, by February 1991, PETA claimed over 350,000 members making it one of the largest organizations of it's kind.

Nowadays, the people for the Ethical Treatment of Animals is fighting for the rights of animals, supporting vegetarian options and animal friendly clothing.

The Animal Liberation Front, also known as the ALS, is a international, underground organization that has a very direct approach, sometimes illegal, fighting for the rights of animals worldwide. These activists often remove animals from captivity such as laboratories, farms, and zoos. The ALF also take care of the animals they rescue by placing them into safe houses or veterinary care, making sure that they are safe and that they have a place to live for the rest of their lives.

Direct action

The Animal Liberation Front takes direct action when it comes to saving animals that are being held captive in cages or are being mistreated. The activists consider that animals should be free, such as humans. They should have right, just as humans, and should not live in cages. The ALF doesn’t fight for a more humane treatment of the animals, but for total freedom. Bigger cages aren’t the answer as their aim is empty cages. All animals have the right to live and to be free. In order to achieve their goal , the activists sometime resort to illegal actions, although they reject physical violence. Often, after saving animals from laboratories or farms where they are being kept captive, they destroy these places. They claim that, saving animals from a laboratory only means that they will be replaced with other animals. That is why extreme measurements must be taken as destroying laboratories means slowing down the process or even stopping it.

History

In 1963, as a protest to deers being killed by hunters, the Hunt Saboteurs Association was created in order to prevent hunters from catching deers. In 1972 a similar organization was formed. The sole difference is that this new organization would take a more direct approach, cutting the tires of the hunter’s vehicles and preventing the hunt from ever happening. In 1976 Ronnie Lee eventually formed the ALF n order to free animals and prevent them from being killed.

The World Wide Fund for Nature, or WWF for short, is an international non-governmental organization that works on issues regarding the conservation of the environment. This organization is the largest of it's kind and it has well over 5 million supporters worldwide. In the US and in Canada the WWF is known as the World Wildlife Fund. Since 1961 when WWF was founded, the organization has helped a lot of people protect the environment and, at the moment, the World Wide Fund for Nature is working in more than 90 countries, offering support to more than 1500 projects regarding the conservation of the environment.

Current projects

WWF is working tireless in order to keep out planet the way it is. There are a lot of species of animals who are becoming rapidly extinct. That is why the World Wide Fund for Nature is trying to conserve 35 of the world's most important ecoregions, such as the Amazon forest or the Coral Triangle, and is desperately trying to restore the population of almost 40 endangered species. These species, such as the elephants, wales, dolphins or the tunas, play a very important role in their ecosystem. Also these animals are loved by people worldwide and many would suffer from their extinction. WWF is also working on projects that could reduce the unnecessary use of natural resources trying to prevent or at least reduce pollution and keep the Earth a clean place for generations to come.

The history of the organization

The organization was founded on April 29, 1961 in Switzerland. The founders (Max Nicholson, Peter Scott, Julian Huxley, Guy Mountfort and Godfrey A. Rockefeller) came up with the idea of creating a organization that would conserve the world's biological diversity and would fight against pollution. Since then, the organization has rapidly grown and is now helping many people trying to conserve the ecosystem.

Greenpeace has been protecting the ability of the Earth to nurture life in all its diversity ever since 1971. It began as a peace movement, but rapidly evolved to become one of the largest and most influential non-governmental global environment organizations in the world. Greenpeace has over 3 million members and it is the most “visible” organization of its kind. Greenpeace acts directly and has won numerous battles for nature throughout the years.

Water is a vital element of our life and it is our very essence. The world of waters and seas is home to some of the most amazing, most evolved and most beautiful creatures on our Planet. There is unimaginable beauty hidden below the surface of the oceans and seas. Thanks to modern technology, scientist and marine biologists are now able to discover a lot more “intimate” details about the lives of the creatures that live below the water’s surface. The world of oceans and seas is a world so fascinating, so pure and so beautiful that nothing is quite like it.

What’s the point in killing seals?

Even so, for thousands of years, man has been destroying this world with brutal force for his own interest. The creatures of the oceans and seas served as a critical support for humanity’s survival ever since the beginning of man, but now man knows no limit. Hunters and fishermen can now venture to the far side of the world searching for their “beloved” prey. Fishermen decimate entire populations and destroy the natural balance and food chain in many regions of the water world. Because modern technology allows man to survive in some of the most harsh conditions, seal hunting is becoming an ever larger market and economy.

Hunters kill seals mainly for their fur, because their meat is not so tasty. But the view and overall perspective is horrifying. In places where tens of thousands of seals used to surface on the ice every year, now just a few scattered hundreds venture to the dangers of the surface. Seal hunting is now a very important problem, one the must be solved immediately. Seal hunting affects not only the seal population, but also the polar bar, the polar fox and the polar birds populations. Seal hunting unbalances the entire polar food chain.

The oceans and seas are home to some of the most spectacular and some of the most beautiful creatures on Earth. From the sun bathed ocean surface to the completely dark ocean floor, inhabitants are incredible. Their shapes, colours and level of adaptation goes far beyond our power of imagination. Only the bravest scientist had the courage to explore the ocean in order to rejoice its beauty and to share their discoveries and studies with the world. The world of the oceans and seas is a magic world, a world vital to our very existence and a world so beautiful that you should never miss out on the wonders of it. Besides its mystical and beautiful side, the “water-world” has been an indispensable resource for life. Water is our very essence and for millennia, creatures of the sea were humanity's best way to ensure survival.

Tens of thousands of dolphins are brutally killed

But even with all that, for hundreds of years, many people keep exploiting and destroying this miraculous world. Fishermen destroy the natural food chain in numerous areas, oil platforms decimate entire marine populations. But that is not it. Every year, between September and October, tens of thousands of dolphins are brutally killed and slaughtered in the seas of Japan. As part of their natural marine lifeline, dolphins get close to the shoreline. That is when fishermen enclose them in nets, use tools to disorient their sonar and hurt some dolphins with spears to ensure that no dolphin will escape. Unlike us humans, dolphins never leave a wounded dolphin behind. The scene is so tragic that it breaks anyone's heart. Dolphins are some of the most beautiful and some of the most intelligent creatures on Earth, and they are one of the few species of water mammals. These yearly slaughters must be put to an end!

How would the world be without birds? For 99% of people, this is something impossible even for the imagination. Birds have been on this Planet for longer than we, humans have and they are of major importance to any food chain, in any almost any type of environment. There are literally thousands of species of birds worldwide. Birds are some of the most fascinating creatures on Earth, due to the fact that they are a highly privileged animal. Birds can do something man could never achieve without technology, and that is to fly. From the little hummingbird to the mighty eagle, almost all birds can fly. Birds are beyond wonderful creatures and they make our lives much more beautiful and fun. They are representing symbols of love, freedom, honour and power in numerous cultures and they are indispensable to life itself.

This is cruelty.

Even so, man destroys their habits and kills them by the thousands. Especially marine birds. Marine birds are the ones most severely influenced by man’ s negligence. Marine birds die by the hundreds every week because of oil. Oil soaked birds are becoming an ever more common problem now, because of the worldwide severe oil crisis. Mankind’s need for oil is what makes a lot of birds die. When large oil ships, oil platforms or even oil water pipes have leaks, large stains of oil contaminate the water’s surface.

Marine birds are predator birds which feed with ocean or sea fish, but they often dive right through those thick floating oil stains and it an attempt to clean their feathers, they get poisoned by the oil. Oil soaked birds are sadly a very common phenomena in waters near large oil platforms, but the saddest part is that only 1% of oil soaked birds ever make it through. Oil soaked birds often die in a lot of pain, from kidney and liver damage.
